This site is stewartferris.com, a hub of advice and tools for writers, run by Stewart Ferris. It is a public website. There are no accounts, no logins, and no forms that ask you to send personal details through these pages.
What this site is
Pages here describe writing tools, books, novels, gifts, and an essay on AI. Links take you to Amazon.co.uk, CafePress, YouTube, IMDb, and the separate writing tools hosted on grok.me. Those other sites have their own privacy policies.
What is collected
This site does not run a mailing list, comment box, or user database. If you email [email protected], that correspondence is handled as ordinary email, not as a file of website users.
A small visit counter on the home page is served by hits.sh. That service sees a request for the counter image (typically including your IP address and browser type) so it can increment a public tally. It is there only to show roughly how often the site is opened.
Cookies and similar
These pages do not set first-party tracking cookies of their own. Third parties may set cookies if you follow a link or if an embedded service loads:
- Amazon Associates. Product links to Amazon.co.uk use the tag stewartferris-21. Links to Amazon.com use the tag upcottstudios-20. If you click through, Amazon may use cookies to attribute a sale. As an Amazon Associate, Stewart Ferris earns from qualifying purchases.
- CafePress. Mug links open CafePress product pages. CafePress may set cookies on its own site.
- Fonts. Type is loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com).
- Share buttons. Icons at the foot of each page open X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, WhatsApp or your email app only when you choose to use them.
- Advertising. This site is registered with Google AdSense (publisher ID pub-4446639715209525). If ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure them. You can manage ad personalisation through Google Ads Settings.
Children
The site is written for adults who write, teach, or work in publishing. It is not aimed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have rights under UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, including access, correction, erasure, and objection to processing that relies on legitimate interests. Because this site does not keep a user file, there is usually nothing stored here to retrieve. If you believe a third party named above holds data about you from a visit or a click, their own policy is the place to start; you can also write using the contacts on the About page.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will change. The current version is always the one published at stewartferris.com/privacy.
